Day 1 Paris : Flea market #1 - St Oeun marche aux puces

Lundi 17 Auguste 2015: First day in Paris

After arriving last night at 8.30pm and spending our first evening of our holiday at the Holdiay Inn near CD Gaulle airport, having a delicious smorgasbord hotel breakfast, Penny and I successfully navigated the train network to arrive at the Odeon metro station on line 4 then walked a short distance  to meet Maxime who took us to our small studio apartment at Rue de Buci in the heart of the rive gauche - the gorgeous St Germain des Pres in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

After settling in, we took the train to the end of metro line 4 at Porte de Clignancourt, on the northern periphery of Paris, to visit the Marche Saint-Ouen, (Marche aux Puces) - the most famous of Paris's flea markets, actually consisting of several flea markets such as Paul Bert

The best one on the day was at 96 Rue des Rosiers where we wandered along the narrow allee lined with cramped stores, many closed, selling everything from antique maps, jewellery, door keys, furniture and kitchen ware to books.

Then back to the apartment for dinner ….
