Day 3 continued - Monet's house and garden

Here are the photos ( mainly Penny's) and info I was unable to include in my Day 3 post as I was unable to edit it, so here goes!

Monet's gorgeous country cottage with its pink stone walls and bright green shutters, doors and window frames - a strange combination but it works, especially with the lush foliage adorning the trellis and verandah.

Mass plantings of red and white geraniums in the garden in the forecourt.

A small sample of the huge variety of colourful blooms in his pretty cottage garden.

View of the house from the lily pond.

The willow tree and pink  and white water lilies, so synonymous with Monet.

Gorgeous reflections on the lily pond - etang des Nymphaeas -
captured to perfection by Monet in his plein air works.

Blue sky reflected in the lily pond - one of my favorite shots!

Gorgeous large white hydrangea blooms next to the stream.

The old flume gate handle used to control water flow into the pond from the small strema.

Willows overhanging the water lily pond.

View from one of the 'pont japonais'

So lucky to be here!

Vines and creepers adorn the trellis.

The blue and white tiled kitchen

The bright yellow dining room - furniture and walls!

Monet's salon - with floral-printed fabric on the lounge furniture and the walls filled with artworks by himself and his friends eg Cezanne.

Not the original paintings - these are housed elsewhere.

What a wonderful day!
